Jen Heidgerd

Jennifer Heidgerd, Pet Nurse

Jen graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BS in Animal Science with equine option in 1987. She enjoys birdwatching, horse racing, photography, and watching “Chopped”. She has two orange kitties, Fred and George, and one guinea pig named Bob. Jen started working at sheabel in 1997. When Jen first started, there was a Sheabel “initiation”.

JB Jennifer Borders

“JB” Jennifer Borders, Pet Nurse

JB received a Bachelors Degree in special education from Spalding University and a Masters in Audiology from the University of Louisville. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, scrapbooking, knitting, and running. She has a 5-year-old Pomeranian and Papillion mix that she adopted from a couple at Sheabel, named Luckydog. JB has been working at Sheabel since October 2005.

Amanda Chism Briggs

Amanda Chism Briggs, Pet Nurse

Amanda went to Georgetown College and had a double major in History and European Studies with a minor in French. She graduated in 2006 and is currently studying Veterinary Technology at Purdue University. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, making jewelry, and traveling. Amanda has 3 dogs named Molly, Tyra, and Izzie. She and her husband also keep tropical fish. Amanda began working at Sheabel in April 2011.

Anna Young-Gunnel

Anna Young-Gunnel, Pet Nurse

Anna graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in Biology in 2003. In her free time she enjoys reading and spending time with her son Eli and her husband Ron. Anna has four cats, Sweetie, Rogue, Emma, and Gambit, who are crazy and keep her very busy! Anna became a part of the Sheabel team in 2009 and works part time, mostly on Saturdays and Sundays. She has a full time job at the State Public Health Virology Lab in Frankfort.

Jessica Brochu, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Jess received her Associate degree in Veterinary and Animal Science in Massachusetts in 2012. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, hiking and spending time at the lake on her boat. She has three dogs, Bo (Australian shepherd mix), Annie (shepherd mix), and Bella (Chihuahua mix). Jess joined the Sheabel team in August 2013 and she served in the Army Reserves for 6 years with a six month deployment to Africa.

Bri Clark

Briana Clark, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Briana received her Veterinary Technology degree at Macomb Community College in 2014. Her hobbies include music, board games with friends, playing ukelele and trumpet, and going to concerts. She has an 11 year old Pomeranian named Russell and a 2 year old Shih Tzu named Pikachu that she adopted from a rescue. Bri joined the Sheabel team in May 2014 and she looks forward to making many wonderful memories. She has wanted to work in the veterinary field for as long as she can remember and is excited to start her journey here at Sheabel.

Ellie Hershey

Ellie Hershey, Veterinary Assistant

In her free time, Ellie loves working with her dogs. She has 6 dogs – 5 Jack Russells and 1 Belgian Malinois. Ellie has been working at Sheabel since January 1998.

JAndi Anderson

Andi Anderson, Veterinary Assistant

Andi began working at Sheabel Veterinary Hospital in 2012. She studied criminal justice at the University of Alaska where she also fell in love with camping, fishing, hiking and wildlife rehabilitation. An avid UK sports fan, Andi has a menagerie of pets including Lexi (a black Lab), Wilbur (an albino Corgi who is blind and deaf), Maggie (an English Bulldog), Leo (a shepherd-mix), Fifi ( a beagle), Loki (a Pomeranian), Brave and Hero (cats), Zeus and Zamis (Bearded Dragons), Cujo (African Grey parrot), Thane (Eastern Hognose snake), and 7 chickens.


Jessica Cross, Pet Nurse

Jess  graduated from Cornell University in Animal Science and Business Management.  She was on the Polo team at Cornell and continues to ride.  Other hobbies include hiking, snow boarding, water skiing, and motorcycle riding.  She has four pets: an Airedale Terrier named Indy, a cat named Squeeks, and two horses named Leo and Why.  Jess joined the Sheabel team in February 2015 and feels like she has learned a lot from the staff.  “The Sheabel staff have been very accepting and patient with someone new to the small animal world.”  Jess moved to Lexington 7 months ago and plans to go to veterinary school.  She has mostly worked with horses, but is getting used to the smaller, fluffy friends!

Kaitlin Lemaster, Veterinary Assistant

Kaitlin is currently a pre-vet student at UK majoring in Biology.  She enjoys hiking, reading, cooking and volunteers as a Sunday School teacher.  She has a calico cat named Kaya.  Kaitlyn started at Sheabel in May 2015.  Her favorite part of her job is seeing how excited the pets are when their owners pick them up; they are always happy to be reunited with their family!
